Some Words from our CEO
A new United Way
What matters to you?
At United Way we continually ask our donors, volunteers and community partners that very question, because we know that people really want to make a difference in their community. And we want to be your partner. Because together we can get results that none of us can accomplish alone.
This is going to be an exciting year as a new organization. United Way of Western Connecticut's mission is to be a leader in mobilizing the resources needed to improve lives and our communities. This year the three United Ways represented in our recent merger are investing over $5 million into ensuring people can live independently and with dignity, increasing early childhood learning, providing free medical care, and much more.
But United Way is not just a fundraising organization. While funding remains critical to solving some problems, it is not the only way we help improve lives. We want to create lasting change in people's lives and in our community. This requires more than just funding; it requires bringing together our community leaders, nonprofit organizations, volunteers and businesses to focus on the most pressing needs in our community.
We have concentrated our efforts on four key areas: helping kids and families be strong and successful, promoting health and safety for the most vulnerable, increasing self-sufficiency, and getting people involved in their neighborhoods and communities. You will find throughout this website the lives that have changed as a result of many people working together towards these common goals.
Every day people help shape our community and make it stronger. United Way of Western Connecticut celebrates their work. We hope you will join us in creating lasting change right here in our own community.
