What is a United Way Corporate Sponsor?

Our Corporate Sponsors provide a single annual donation that supports many United Way activities.

  • Five giving levels allow for Corporate Sponsors to determine the best fit for their organization.
  • Provides year-round support to the United Way, eliminating multiple sponsor requests.
  • Corporate Sponsors support United Way’s Volunteer Events, Donor Cultivation Recognition Events, and the Loaned Executive Program.

How is this support used?

The Corporate Sponsor Program provides the United Way opportunities to build relationships with donors, recognize volunteers, and devote more dollars to local health and human service programs and partnerships.

Volunteer Events

Our Corporate Sponsors support the Day of Caring, an annual event that joins more than 1,000 volunteers from area businesses with service projects at our local nonprofit agencies. This event grows every year, and helps kick-off United Way’s annual corporate campaign.

Our local agencies depend on this volunteer effort,  because it allows them to save their limited resources for direct service. The kick-off breakfast is attended by over 700 people.

Corporate Sponsors investment provides for the underwriting of the breakfast, coordination of the entire day’s events, and recognition advertising. Sponsors are listed in the event’s invitation, program, and all advertising and promotion of the event.

Donor Cultivation

The Leadership Giving Association is underwritten through the Corporate Sponsors . Donors who contribute over $1,000 annually are members of the Leadership Giving Association. Annual receptions and events provide an opportunity to recognize and thank all donors who contribute significant dollars to United Way of Western Connecticut. Corporate Sponsors are invited to attend this event. They are recognized in Leadership Association publications.

Recognition Events

Community Impact Volunteer Reception, held in June, recognizes over 100 volunteers who work year-round on United Way’s Community Impact agenda. These volunteers serve on councils and review teams, determining funding and support for United Way’s partner agencies. Corporate Sponsors’ investment provides for the underwriting of the reception. Sponsors are listed in the event’s invitation, program, and all advertising and promotion of the event.

Community Awards Events

Each spring United Way hosts Community Awards Events to celebrate the culmination of efforts in raising funds and awareness of United Way. The events are community focused, with awards being designated to both corporate and individual volunteers who have made significant contributions to the their communities area and to United Way of Western Connecticut. Corporate Sponsors’ investment provides for the underwriting of the reception. Sponsors are listed in the event’s invitation, program, and all advertising and promotion of the event.

United Way’s Loaned Executive Program

Corporate Sponsors underwrite the cost of temporary campaign executives who help the United Way run its workplace campaigns in approximately 300 companies. This allows United Way of Western Connecticut to keep fundraising costs low, sending more donor dollars into direct services in their community.

Media Sponsorships

Corporate Media Sponsors underwrite the cost of in-kind advertising, promotion, and special events. Specific services are determined by Media Sponsors and United Way in advance.
