The Legacy Society of Western Connecticut was created to recognize the generosity of individuals and families who have made, or provided, for gifts to the United Way of Western Connecticut Legacy funds in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield counties and Stamford. When you become a member of The Legacy Society, you help create a legacy of caring for your community that continues forever.

How You Can Benefit

A gift to The Legacy Society of Northern Fairfield County gives you  the opportunity to make a charitable  gift and may accomplish one or more of the following personal objectives:

• Reduce estate taxes.
• Exchange appreciated property and other assets for lifetime income.
• Avoid capital gains on gifts.
• Increase income tax deductions.
• Enhance retirement resources.

Opportunities to Invest

There are a variety of ways to make a gift to The Legacy Society of Northern Fairfield County:

• Charitable Gift Annuity
• Will or Living Trust Bequest
• Charitable Remainder Trust or Lead Trust
• Outright gifts: real estate or personal property
• Transfer of stocks or bonds
• Retirement plans: 401K, SEP

Where Does the Money Go?

A gift to The Legacy Society of Northern Fairfield County can respond to a range of future community needs, or can reflect a donor’s special interest. Through unrestricted gifts, United Way will be able to meet future health and social service needs. We may not be able to envision many of these needs today. All gifts to the fund will be invested, ensuring that the gift will grow in perpetuity. The income generated will be invested, assuring it will be available to fund the most important community needs.
