Fundraising Campaign for King of the Hill!
New this year, you can run in the King of the Hill 5K road race and raise money for United Way. United Way of Western Connecticut has partnered with Active.com, an online resource that hosts races, team sports and recreational activities, to make it possible for King of the Hill race registrants to create their own fundraising pages for race sponsorship.
It's easy. Simply go to the "Register for the Race" button on the left side of this page and select the option to "register as a Fundraiser/Participant". You will complete a brief online registration form for the race, and then be directed to Active.com where you can create your own custom fundraising page. Raise $100 or more, and your race fee is waived!
Following are some common questions related to Fundraising and registration:
Q: I have registered for the race as a Fundraiser/Participant and created my fundraising page. Now how do I get back to my fundraising page to make changes and start inviting people?
A: Following the successful creation of your page, Active.com will email you a confirmation that will include links to your "admin" page so you can customize and share with friends & family as well as a direct link to the page your friends and family will visit to sponsor you.
Q: I created my fundraising page, but when I clicked the Search button at the "Sponsor a Participant Page" to get a list of participants, my name wasn't listed.
A: While you have immediate access to the page you created to start customizing and even sending emails out to get sponsors, it may take up to 24 hours for your name to be listed on the "master list" of fundraiser/participants at Active.com. If your name does not appear on the list within a day of establishing your fundraiser page, contact the number shown at the bottom of this page and we'll assist you.
Q: Last year, I registered for the race directly on Active.com. This year, I registered as a fundraiser/participant and created a fundraising page. But when I tried to look myself up as a runner at Active.com, my name wasn't listed.
A: To register without fundraising, you will complete an online form at Active.com and pay your race fee online. Registering this way will add you to a list of King of the Hill runners at Active.com.
When you register as a Fundraiser/Participant, you will complete a different online form that will register you for the race directly with United Way of Western Connecticut. We do this to waive the race fee (contingent on raising $100 or more through sponsorships).
No matter which form you complete, you will be registered for the King of the Hill road race and we will have your information at the welcome gate on race day.
Q: I have created my fundraising page, but I'm at a loss as to how to get started.
A: Have no fear -- following is a list of resources to help you get the ball rolling! In addition, there are other helpful resources at your fundraising page.
