Sometimes just a few dollars helps restore a life…
Proud to be Working Again
My name is Anthony. I am 53 years old, and have a wife and 10 year old son. Last year I developed a chronic illness and became unable to work. After emerging from my health crisis I was left with ongoing ailments and a permanent disability. But I knew I could work part-time. I still needed to help provide for my family. My health problems had taken a great toll on our family finances.
I successfully found work as a part-time mechanic. We were so excited, finally I would feel productive again. But I needed money for uniforms before I could start. But I wouldn’t get paid for another two weeks. It looked like my chance for a new start wouldn’t happen.
Then I was referred to a local emergency aid program. They gave me a grant to purchase the work uniforms. I wasn’t used to needing “charity”. But this support meant a better life for my family.
I am proud to be working again. And I am relieved that my wife and I can both be providers for our family. When you donate to help someone else, you may never know the impact your generosity has. Today I have a new lease on life!
Our community agencies are out there every day helping people get back on their feet to provide for their family. But the number of people in need of these services has grown to the point where help is getting harder to find.
The programs providing basic needs in our neighborhoods are seeing unprecedented numbers of new families coming through their doors. An increase of 40% is not uncommon for most to report. The Take Five to Give 5 campaign will send 100% of your donation to these organizations that are meeting basic needs for families like Jane’s.
Whatever amount you can give will help change lives. Tell five friends. Use your network, share the stories, and ask them to give to the campaign. Your gift multiplies with every person you connect with.
