The Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut works to strengthen our region by connecting people to volunteer service opportunities and providing resources to nonprofit organizations. Each year, we recruit thousands of volunteers to give their time and talent to the community and help hundreds of nonprofit agencies fulfill their missions.

"Thank you so much for this opportunity," said, Robin Travis from The Network Support Company. "The kids were awesome! Typical 4-year-olds who love to talk to you about anything. After I read The Very Busy Spider, we sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider song, and then we played some games. It was just a great way to end my day. I even learned the Spanish word for tail."
Julia Lucero, a Mayor's Youth Summer Program Intern, reads with a camper at NEON in Stamford. Julia is one of 40 volunteers from 8 companies who mentored 88 at-risk youth through our Summer Reading Partners this past summer.
