Getting Better Every Year
On June 9, 2010, over 1,000 volunteers from local businesses and organizations proved once again that they care about our community by reporting to work sites at local nonprofit organizations to tackle meaningful volunteer projects. Volunteers made a difference at 42 project sites in 10 Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield towns!
The Day of Caring was established in 1994 by the United Way of Western Connecticut to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies, and demonstrate what people working together for the community's good can accomplish. As more volunteers and companies requested projects throughout the year, the official name was changed to Days of Caring to highlight the ongoing nature of these projects.
