Letter of Intent for Early Childhood Care

United Way supports quality early childhood care to drive Youth Success

United Way of Western Connecticut  is currently seeking Letters of Intent (LOIs) from agencies interested in applying for funding for education initiatives focused on early childhood care programs for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families.

Our goal for early childhood care is to fund organizations where a child feels safe, happy and parents feel comfortable that their children are well cared for while they are at work.  We hope that the children are having interesting and positive experiences, and that they are learning, both academically and socially.

We seek proposals for Early Childhood Care programs that will:

  1. Provide affordable, quality child care for children under the age of five who are living in households that fall within the ALICE threshold, AND;
  2. Measure developmental milestones to ensure children are ready for kindergarten

If you are interested in applying for funding, please submit your LOI online below  by January 17, 2020. An invitation to apply for funds will be dependent on proposals presented through LOIs submitted online.
If your agency is selected to apply for funding, you will be contacted the week of January 27, 2020.  Funding is anticipated to start no later than July 1, 2020.

For more information on ALICE household determination, please refer to our 2018 ALICE Household Survival Budgets and Household Compositions. For more information about the LOI application process, please contact the UWWC Community Impact Coordinator for your region:
