$45,000 corporate gift to support United Way initiatives
STAMFORD, Conn. (August 24, 2018) — United Way of Western Connecticut received a $45,000 contribution this month in support United Way’s annual workplace campaign to support United Way’s funded programs and initiatives.
“The $45,000 gift from Eversource will have a remarkable impact on our community,” said Kimberly Morgan, CEO of United Way of Western Connecticut. “Eversource is an incredible community partner that not only provides financial support, but also employee volunteers who participate in our annual Days of Action and Business to Books reading programs. The confidence that Eversource has demonstrated in investing their support in us gives us the boost we need to continue to raise as much financial support as possible this fall.”

Eversource funding will support United Way initiatives and funded programs that touch upon three main focus areas: health, education and financial stability. Funding support from residential and corporations like Eversource help United Way accomplish its goals by supporting nonprofits in Stamford, Greater Danbury and Greater New Milford that provide financial literacy services, subsidies for families in need of childcare and preschool, and funding for mobile food pantries, among other programmatic activities.
For the past several years, United Way has focused its giving and initiatives on supporting hard-working, struggling households that United Way calls ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). The goal of United Way’s funding in the community is to support programs that help households and individuals alleviate their financial stress, find ways to build assets and ultimately find a way out of the constant struggle of to make ends meet.
“We are determined to do all that we can to ensure that households in our region that are working and struggling to afford the basics are given the support and services they need to not only survive, but to thrive,” Morgan added.
