United Way supports quality after school programming to drive Youth Success

After Program Request for Proposals 2020-2021

After School Program Purpose/Outcome: After School grant applicants should serve the ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population and provide affordable after-school programming for families with children ages 5 to 17 that provides enrichment. The desired outcome is that children of working parents receive a foundation for successful, healthy lives.

Eligibility: All 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible for United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) funding including those not funded in the past

Timeline: Site visits will be conducted the weeks of March 9, 2020 and March 16, 2020. Funding decisions will be made by May 2020. Funding is for the fiscal year, July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Grant Requirements: By applying for this grant, all applicants are required to fulfill the following grant requirements.

  • Publicity - As a condition of this grant, the applicant is requested to acknowledge UWWC in all media communications, public announcements (such as press releases), printed materials (such as agency newsletters and annual reports), and on your agency's website and e-communications pertinent to the funded program. Please see UWWC’s Guidelines for Publicizing and Acknowledging Your Grant for publicizing your grant in print, radio, and/or through social media. We appreciate advance notice of events with photo opportunities as well as emailed jpg files of the photographs after they are taken for possible inclusion in UWWC’s Annual Report and other communication materials.
     
  • Success Stories - With each grant report, grant recipients are required to submit at least one written success story about your program participants. Please see UWWC’s Guidelines for Impactful Success Stories which provides best practices for sending us stories. Submission for these unique success stories are due with the interim and final grant reports.

  • United Way of Western Connecticut Programs – We consider all funded organizations partners in the work being completed, as such we request that the agency help to actively promote and refer clients for our programs. These programs consist of the ALICE Enrichment Fund, Healthy Savings Program, ALICE Saves, etc. We will provide all materials and training to help you promote and refer your clients to these programs, if appropriate.   • Reporting Requirements – We require reports to be completed for any funded program. You will be asked to upload required reports to the UWWC website in the same manner as you are completing this request for proposal (RFP). These reports will have the following deadlines:
    • Interim Report Due Date: 01/31/2021
    • Final Report Due Date: 06/30/2021
